What is the project about?
 
The Resource Centre is a physical space located on the ground floor in the SMATE building, Missionvale Campus, room 0014, where the multiple forms of knowing and knowledge will be made available to a broad range of stakeholders. These stakeholders include those involved in the various programmes in the Centre as well as those stakeholders who would like access to the emerging knowledge in the Centre.
 
Aim of the project
 
The Resource Centre  will be provide space for: 
  • Reading
  • Reference material, e.g. posters, lesson plans, etc.
  • Computers for internet access for research
  • Articles and periodicals
  • Printers
  • Books 
  • Different documentation relating to work being done in the CCS and Faculty 
  • Newspapers
  • Meeting space for different stakeholders
  • Critical engagement on identified topics related to education
 
Stakeholders:
 
All stakeholders who have an interest in addressing any educational challenges, including but not exclusive to:
  • Centre for Community Schools staff
  • Staff from schools across the metro
  • Community members 
  • Students from Nelson Mandela University and learners from schools
 
Operation:
 
  • A resource centre assistant will be physically present when the RC is in use.
  • The resource centre assistant will, on a time table, sit in the resource centre.
  • The resource centre assistant will manage all the materials and services, e.g. books, journals, newspapers, booking for discussions, as well as online search for academic materials and other important materials.
  • The resource centre assistant will do the search on behalf of the visitors or users of the resource centre.
  • All materials that belong to the resource centre will be recorded.
